1939 Cincinnati Reds National League Championship Banner
The Reds, throughout the 1930's, became a team of "firsts". Crosley Field (formerly Redland Field) became the host of the first night game in 1935. Johnny Vander Meer became the only pitcher in major league history to throw back-to-back no-hitters in 1938. For the first time since the notorious "Black Sox" series Cincinnati had returned to the World Series after taking home the NL Pennant. This extremely rare satin banner (17-1/4 x 26-1/2") has gold tassels at bottom, "National League Champions 1939" and the Reds logo applied in red felt. One small hole above the "U" in "League" and minor staining on right, otherwise EX condition.
