1939 New York World's Fair Place Setting and Set of Souvenir Spoons in Original Boxes (2)

1939 New York World's Fair Place Setting and Set of Souvenir Spoons in Original Boxes (2)

Visitors from across the globe descended upon Flushing Meadows, Queens in 1939 as the World's Fair featured 33 countries and drew over 44-million people. Straight from that huge exhibition comes this master flatware service set for four in its original box. Included in it are all the serving items for a total of 32 pieces. The lot also includes a set of 12 souvenir spoons, each adorned with a pavilion of the Fair. The original boxes measure 11" x 15.5" x 3.5" and 7" x 9.25" x 1.5". The World's fair would return to New York City in 1964, coinciding with the opening of Shea Stadium across from the park, with the Mets and Jets calling that venue home.
