1939 Ted Williams and Bobby Doerr Signed Oversized Photo
In a red and gold leaf frame, this large, 1939 black and white photograph of Ted Williams and Bobby Doerr is impressionistic and evocative of the beginning of the great 1940’s Boston Red Sox team. But these two were also on the then minor league San Diego Padres team in the 1930’s, so their bond was rich, and this photo, actually portraying the first day Williams donned the Red Sox uniform, conveys the depth of this friendship. With frame, this matted picture measures 21 ? x 25 ?”, while photo is signed by both players, each signature a very nice 9/10 and has each man’s uniform number marked next to their autograph. Interestingly, Doerr wore #9 in ‘37 before Williams joined in ’39 and was fashioned with the now-retired #9. This item is NRMT.
