1940's Joe Louis Fight Worn Trunks
From the famed Mannie Seamon collection, auctioned by Guernseys in 1990 as lot "A140" (tag from that sale still attached). Balck satin trunks with white trim are similar to those worn by Louis in his fight with Max Schmeling (1938), but upon close examination of the label, it is clear that these were not the trunks from that fight. The absence of color photographs and film makes this determination difficult. These were worn by Joe Louis most probably during the 1940's. "Everlast" manufacturer's tag on front center waistband printed with the logo, "Made Expressly for Joe Louis." Embroidered in white thread on left leg is "JL" intertwined. Colors have faded slightly with age. Trunks show evidence of use and wear. Authenticated by foremost boxing expert, Craig Hamilton who has included his LOA.
