1940's New York Yankees Football Ephemera Collection
Not all Yankees swung a bat--remember that there used to be an A.A.F.C. football team by the same name. 1) Best in this lot is a large (11x14") photo of the 1948 team, signed in NRMT ink by thirty-four of those pictured. Photo itself has seen better days, but none of the all-important signatures are affected. Best signature is Spec Sanders, who, on October 27, 1948, put on one of the most spectacular and unforgettable shows ever seen on a professional gridiron. The tailback for the Yankees carried the ball 24 times for an unsurpassed 225 yards against the Chicago Rockets. 2) Thirty-four 8x10" glossy photos are mostly individual "posed" shots, with a few group shots thrown in. 3) Two game programs. 4) Twelve sideline and press passes. 5) 1949 schedule. Average condition of collection is EX-MT.
