1940 Deed for the Sale of Ruppert Stadium to the New York Yankees

1940 Deed for the Sale of Ruppert Stadium to the New York Yankees

An important official document that is signed by Hall of Famers George Weiss and Edward Grant Barrow. It is an elaborate, four-page item with added codicil, beautifully signed in ink and legally notarized. This sold the Newark Bears' legendary Ruppert Stadium to the father club for the princely sum of $1 as the Yankees were putting their Bronx eggs in a row for tax purposes. The deal of the century, this document is vital for obvious reasons as it relates to the minor league club of the century. A scant three years previous, the Ruppert Stadium would house the greatest minor league team in history - the 1937 Newark Bears. EX-MT. JSA LOA.
