1940 Tarzan Edgar Rice Burroughs - Unused Dust Jackets

1940 Tarzan Edgar Rice Burroughs - Unused Dust Jackets

Gorgeous Covers. Came from the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs in Tarzana, California, hence never used. Some minor defects here and there. Most of these materials were burned in the famed estate fire. In May of 2008, a fire broke out in the home of Danton Burroughs (Edgar's grandfather. Edgar built the estate in 1927). Danton dedicated his life to preserving the legacy of his his grandfather and Tarzan; one day after the fire Danton died of heart failure. Within the home a room filled with memorabilia from throughout the years was almost completely destroyed. The dust jacket covers' titles include; 1) Carson of Venus. 2) Tarzan Triumphant (2). 3) Tarzan and the Foreign Legion. 4) Back to the Stone Age. 5) Tarzan and the forbidden City. 6) Pirates of Venus. 7) The Deputy Sheriff of Comanche County. 8) Synthetic Men of Mars (2). All but two illustrations were done by John Coleman Burroughs (Edgar's son). The two covers not illustrated by John were, Tarzan Triumphant done by Studley Oldham Burroughs and Pirates of Venus illustrated by J. Allen St. John.
