1940 Wheaties Champ Stamps Salesman Sample Book

1940 Wheaties Champ Stamps Salesman Sample Book

One of the longest running children's serials was Jack Armstrong, who was a familiar, convivial face as "the all-American boy" from 1933 to 1950. Here's Jack on the front of the Wheaties cereal box for the second series of "Champ Stamps" that were issued in October of 1950. The stamps were simply pictures of various champions in different fields on the backs of Wheaties packages, along with a short biography of the individual featured. These were from the files of a General Mills route salesman, shown to his grocer customers to build their interest in increased orders. A total of 39 stamps were available with three different ones on each box back. Sets 14 through 21 are included here, with stars such as DiMaggio, Feller, Foxx, Greenberg and Byron Nelson gracing the stamp books. Also includes the rare advertising cover. There are some punch holes but otherwise the conditions are EX-NRMT.
