1940s-50s Boston Braves Wire Photos (61)
Nice assortment of Boston Braves wire service photos, many with original captions, in this great lot of 61 items, with many dating from the National League pennant-winning 1948 season. Photos are affixed to card stock backings, but from what can be seen at least a few have original editors marks on back, all nicely preserved in a looseleaf binder. The '48 NL Champions are perhaps best remembered for the poetic line, "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain," a tribute to the dominance of pitchers Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain. The only autographed photo is of Spahn, on a 2.75x7.25" photo in blue 9-10/10 marker.
