1940’s Baseball Card Collection
A wonderful lot of 1940’s sports cards including Swell Bubble Gum issues Babe Ruth Story (4 cards including the #1 Card, lot averages VG-EX), Sport Thrills (19 cards including Ruth and Gehrig, lot averages from G to EX), 1948 Bowman (72 cards), and 1949 Bowman (181 cards). Several keys from the Bowman lots include 1948 Bowman #3 Ralph Kiner RC (EX-MT), #5 (2) Bob Feller (VG o/c, EX), #8 (4) Phil Rizzuto RC (2 VG o/c, VG, and EX-MT), #18 (5) Warren Spahn (VG o/c, 2 VG, EX, EX-MT), #36 (3) Stan Musial RC (G, VG, EX-MT), and many other stars (Bob Elliott, 2 Johnny Mize 1 glue stain, 3 Pete Reiser SP, Johnny Sain RC, Allie Reynolds RC, 4 Enos Slaughter, 5 Frank Shea RC SP, Joe Page RC SP, and Bobby Thomson glue stain) in Good to Very Good-Excellent condition (some cards have glue stains on the back and are noted). The 1949 Bowman lot is outstanding and includes some phenomenal cards. The key to this lot and one of the key cards from the late 1940’s is the rookie card of the immortal Jackie Robinson. Card #50 in the 1949 Bowman set, this super card grades NRMT-MT with fantastic centering, great registration, and a clean, stain-free back. There aren’t many examples that are better than this authentic piece of social and baseball history!
