1940’s Josh Gibson Photograph (2.5x7.5”)

1940’s Josh Gibson Photograph (2.5x7.5”)

The Negro League’s greatest home run hitter poses nicely in Homestead Grays uniform for this great photo for the Washington Tribune. Mister Swat, or the black Babe Ruth, as he was also known, achieved batting averages and home run numbers unheard of in the big leagues. Fully suited up with catcher’s mitt, Gibson stands with intimidating stare. Contrast is excellent. Photo is in remarkably good condition. Slightly creased on left side with staining in the middle. Edges are not smooth, but no damage. EX.
