1940s Official Negro American League Baseball

1940s Official Negro American League Baseball

The Negro Leagues are a vital but often overlooked part of baseball history, and like the fleeting legends of those leagues, actual balls used in Negro League games have all but vanished. This magnificent survivor, a handsome official Negro American League baseball, is stamped with “Negro American League” on it and bares League President J.B. Martin’s stamped signature -- a most rare embellishment. This ball was manufactured by Wilson and recalls the days when Satchel Paige's Kansas City Monarchs competed against the likes of the Birmingham Black Barons and the Detroit Stars. EX+
