1940s Stan Musial Beech-Nut Gum Original Painting

1940s Stan Musial Beech-Nut Gum Original Painting

Here is a fabulous gouache on artist's paper which is the original artwork for a proposed massive billboard. A gorgeous work by an unknown top artist, it shows Stan the Man in mid-flight lodging to "Ease the Tension with Beech-Nut Gum!" The gum package is a separate piece, hand drawn and affixed. The bottom section with Kenyon Eckhardt advertising agency advertising is a stock piece used to show how this overall wonder would look. Interestingly, this is the type of old-style billboard with massive wood structure rooted to the ground that one literally drove up to. Fresh to the market it was signed and dated "Stan Musial 12/14/88." Displays some wear to the edges but the image is strong and excellent with perfect colors. The question is "Was it ever made?" Measures 24 7/8 x 15 1/8.
