1940s Tex Hughson Boston Red Sox Game Worn Uniform
This handsome 1940s home white flannel Red Sox uniform was worn by All-Star pitcher Tex Hughson, who led the American League with 22 wins during his first full season of 1942. The jersey features the classic red and blue "Red Sox" across the chest and number 21 on the back. There is a Wilson 46 tag on the jersey and Wilson 40 tag on the pants, which have an inner leg patch repairing a small tear. There is nice use here, including what could be blood stains on the back. At the height of Hughson's career, injuries to his arm and shoulder threatened permanent disability and hastened his retirement after the 1949 season. Still, the Texas native compiled an outstanding 96-54 career record and 2.94 ERA.
