1941 Max Baer vs. Lou Nova Fight-Worn Boxing Gloves

1941 Max Baer vs. Lou Nova Fight-Worn Boxing Gloves

Classic Benlee leather boxing gloves, both left-handed. One glove was worn by Lou Nova, the other by Max Baer. In 1939, former World Champion Max Baer (who lost his title to James Braddock, as recently seen in the movie "The Cinderella Man") was attempting a comeback, but lost by TKO to Lou Nova on June 1. The fighters met a second time on April 5, 1941, with the winner to face World Champion Joe Louis; Nova again triumphed by TKO. These gloves are from the second fight.. The names of the fighters are also written inside the wrists. Considerable ring-use is evident, and the gloves are a tangible and historic link to these great fighters from the past.
