1941 Monte "Irving" Negro League Contract

1941 Monte "Irving" Negro League Contract

The Puerto Rican League misspelled Monte Irvin's name in two different ways (Monty Irvin and Monty Irving) on this 1941 contract and paid him a meager $40 a week. But he was just 22-years-old and still eight years away from joining the newly integrated major leagues as a New York Giant. League's ink-stamp logo of a player mounted on a pedestal with the league's name surrounding it in a circle has faded slightly but adds a colorful touch. Contract is EX, sigs are NRMT.
