1941 New York Yankees World Series Signed Baseball Blotter from Christy Walsh
Christy Walsh went from cartoonist to power broker when Babe Ruth entrusted the New York newspaper artist with the job of managing his affairs (baseball and show biz, that is) and negotiating contracts for him. Walsh did such a good job of saving Babe's money from himself, and getting him tons more to boot, that dozens more athletes to him looking for similar representation. Offered here is Walsh's personal -- and priceless -- baseball blotter, with mounted OAL (Harridge) baseball signed during the 1941 World Series. Walsh gave it to Dr. C.J. Barborka after the Series. Ball is blessed with 12 black fountain ink signatures from the champion Yankees including DiMaggio, Gomez, Ruffing, Combs, Dickey, Rolfe, Keller, Henrich, Crosetti, Gordon, Selkirk, manager Joe McCarthy, & more. Ball is marked in different pen on one panel, "1941 World Series." Signatures grade 8-10 out of a possible 10 and ball itself is Excellent and toned to a tan color. Blotter is engraved on the wooden surface, "Compliments of Christy Walsh." Echoes of the man who was probably the first sports agent.
