1941 Play Ball #71 Joe DiMaggio Autographed PSA GD 2 (Pop 1 - Three Higher)

1941 Play Ball #71 Joe DiMaggio Autographed PSA GD 2 (Pop 1 - Three Higher)

1941 Playball #71 Joe DiMaggio, signed by DiMaggio on the front. PSA has encapsulated the card, certifying the signature as "Authentic" and grading the card GOOD 2. DiMaggio's signature has been scripted in blue ink across his image, with the signature grading 7/10. The colorful graphics, which feature DiMaggio in his classic follow-through batting, combined with the fact that the card dates from the year of his historic 56-game hitting streak, has made it not only one of DiMaggio's most popular cards, but one of the most recognizable cards in the hobby. While the card itself is not rare, autographed examples are scarce. This is the first signed 1941 Play Ball DiMaggio we have ever offered and we have seen few others at auction in the past twenty years. It should also be noted that this is one of only eleven autographed examples listed in the PSA Population Report. Of those eleven, it is the only example graded at this level, with just three graded higher. The card, which is well centered, displays honest wear, including four rounded corners, edge wear, and light wrinkles/creases in the top corners and horizontally throughout the card. Still, it remains an attractive card and, most important, one of the few signed examples in the hobby.
