1941 Preacher Roe Columbus Red Birds American Association Championship Ring

1941 Preacher Roe Columbus Red Birds American Association Championship Ring

Rare 1941 Columbus Red Birds championship ring awarded to pitcher Preacher Roe. Size 9.5 ring weighs 16 grams and sports a genuine diamond as its centerpiece, each side has the same design in relief. Heavy wear is displayed, jewelers mark and Roe's initials are inside the band. Ring may have been resized as the engraving of his initials appears to be buffed. Roe made one Major League appearance for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1938 and was relegated to the minors for the next five years, posting an 11-9 record with a 3.57 era as his American Association squad won the '41 crown. The Cardinals eventually traded the left-hander, a move they would regret as Roe went on to earn five All-Star appearances in the next 11 years, playing with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Dodgers.
