1941 Satchel Paige Photograph (PSA Type I)

1941 Satchel Paige Photograph (PSA Type I)

Nice Type I 3.5x5" image of Hall of Famer Leroy "Satchel" Paige dating from 1941. Paige is shown is suit and white fedora in the Associated Press image, which is encapsulated by PSA as Authentic. Subject is identified in pencil on the reverse, and the attached wire copy is folded up but careful examination of the paper (in reverse) reads, in part, "Associated Press Photo/News Library/Satchel Paige Pitcher" along with a date indicating it is from 1941. Paige's Negro Leagues career is perhaps best remembered for his time with the Kansas City Monarchs, for whom the right-hander had a perfect 5-0 record and 2.35 ERA in nine starts during the '41 campaign.
