It holds a place on most lists of "records that will never be broken." Joe DiMaggio's incredible streak of 56 consecutive games with a hit has never been less than a dozen games of being matched. This lot contains the game program from the 56th and final game of Joltin Joe's streak, July 16, 1941, against the Cleveland Indians at League Field, won by the Yankees by a score of 10-3. This 6x9" publication, with card stock scorecard in center, has some writing on the cover (date and score, as well as notation about DiMaggio's streak ending the next day). The card itself is immaculately scored in pencil, reflecting the slugger's three hits that day, and the lineup is actually pre-printed. This rare keepsake is in EX condition. Nearly forgotten footnote - after the streak ended, DiMaggio hit in the next 16 games, making the streak 72 of 73 games overall.
