1943 R302-1 M.P. & Co. Type II Strip w/Ted Williams (5)

1943 R302-1 M.P. & Co. Type II Strip w/Ted Williams (5)

PLEASE NOTE: The description in the printed catalog in incorrect. That description refers to lot 82 of the auction. 1943 M. P. and Co. Type II Strip of five (5) cards. The M. P. and Co. cards were one of the few sets issued during WWII. Noted for their crude and generic drawings, the cards were originally sold in strips through candy stores. This strip is of the Type II variety with backs exhibiting player name and position but lacking any team affiliation. Of interest on this strip is the lack of position on the Jimmy Foxx card back. The strip features 1942 NL MVP Mort Cooper along with Hall of Famers Ted Williams, Bill Dickey, Jimmy Foxx, and Bob Feller. The end card of Cooper exhibits significant corner wear while the end card of Feller exhibits minor corner wear with a subtle crease going through the center of the card vertically. Both of these grade in Good condition. The interior three cards of Williams, Dickey, and Foxx grade EX-MT.
