1944 Bill Dickey Signed Player Contract
Hall of Famer Bill Dickey signed Uniform Player's Contract with the New York Yankees dated February 7, 1944. Dickey was offered a salary of $20,000 for the year and signed in black fountain ink "William Dickey." The signature rates an "8.5" out of a possible 10. Two Hall of Fame Executives also signed the contract: GM Ed Barrow on behalf of the Yankees and AL President William Harridge. All of the clauses of a standard Major League contract are here, including the one that exempts Dickey from honoring the contract in the case he had to serve in the armed forces. Dickey never played for the Yankees in 1944 since he served in the US Navy. Beautiful contract with three HOF signatures. EXMT.
