1944 Joe Louis Exhibition Fight-Worn Trunks

1944 Joe Louis Exhibition Fight-Worn Trunks

Joe Louis was one of the greatest fighters of all time. And he was an better person. After a great amateur career, he won the heavyweight title in 1937 and held it for 11 years. When World War II broke out, Louis enlisted, entertaining the troops and donating purses to the war effort. Louis fought numerous exhibitions for the troops all over The United States and abroad. Offered here are actual fight-worn trunks used by Louis in an exhibition while he was in Africa with the troops. The trunks are dark blue satin with red trim and have an Everlast label at the front waistband. There's also a drawstring at the waist inside the waistband. The trunks show wear and some soiling, but remain perfectly intact. They are offered with original photographs showing Louis wearing the trunks in an exhibition. One is stamped on the back, "Army Air Force Command." Simply Great!
