1944 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Press Pin

1944 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Press Pin

In a rare inter-city World Series outside of New York, the 1944 classic featured the St. Louis Cardinals squaring off with the St. Louis Browns, the team with which they shared a home stadium, Sportsman's Park. This press pin was issued by the Cardinals for that series and measures approximately 1" in diameter across the face. The back has a threaded post with nut and stamped maker's mark, with some slight tarnishing. The front, which appears NRMT, bears the Cardinal-and-bat logo atop a blue field, with "PRESS" prominently emblazoned. Despite being heavily favored, the Cards dropped two of the first three games before rallying to take the championship in six.
