1945 American League Batting Championship Award Won By New York Yankee Snuffy Stirnweiss
This Louisville Slugger was given to New York Yankees infielder George "Snuffy" Stirnweiss in commemoration of his 1945 American League batting championship. This bat, featuring Stirnweiss' complete batting line from the season, served as his actual award, as silver bats were not adopted until 1949. A hard-to-find item in NM-MT condition, this lot is accompanied by a typed note assuring the bat's authenticity, signed by Stirnweiss' son Ed and dated 2-4-01.
