1945 Boston Red Sox Owner Tom Yawkey "Southern Plantation" Handwritten Letter (PSA)
Sadly but not surprisingly, a letter from the known racist owner of the Boston Red Sox and the last team to hire a African-American player lived on a "plantation." A little over one-page handwritten letter is written on "South Island Plantation" stationery and dated October 25, 1945. Yawkey thanks Detroit Tigers owner Walter Briggs for his World Series gift and congratulates him for winning the 1945 World Series, "...I would like to extend my congratulations on your World Champions. It was a tough series but all is well that ends well." This 5.5x7" letter sports thick black ink and has 'Received' stamp from Briggs Manufacturing. Throbbing with content. Comes certified by PSA.
