1946-1966 AAFC, NFL, and AFL Program Collection (8) - Mac Speedie Collection
Collection of eight pro football programs spanning the years 1946 to 1966. These programs originate from the personal collection of Cleveland Browns Hall of Fame wide receiver Mac Speedie and has been consigned to this auction directly by a family member. It is one of twenty lots from the Mac Speedie Collection offered in this auction, all of which were just recently on public display at the National Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. During his career, Mac Speedie played in both the All-America Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFL). Following his retirement, he coached in the American Football League (AFL) with both the Houston Oilers and Denver Broncos. This collection of programs features examples from each of those three leagues. 1) 1946 Cleveland Browns (vs. Seahawks on 9/6). FR-GD, with two heavy vertical folds and staining. 2) 1947 Los Angeles Dons (vs. Browns on 11/27). VG. 3) 1950 Cleveland Browns (vs. Bears on 9/1). Signed by Mac Speedie in blue ink (9/10) on the interior. GD, with a heavy vertical fold. 4) 1952 New York Giants (vs. Browns on 12/14). VG, with light vertical fold. 5) 1964 Denver Broncos (vs. Patriots on 9/5). Preseason exhibition game. VG-EX. 6) 1964 Denver Broncos (vs. Raiders on 8/14). Preseason exhibition game. FR-GD, with staining and separation of the covers. 7) Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders (neutral site, Utah). Preseason exhibition game on 8/14. VG. 8) 1966 Denver Broncos (vs. Chiefs on 8/6). Preseason exhibition game. Signed by Mac Speedie in blue ink (9/10) on the interior. Poor, with heavy staining.
