1946-49 Mel Ott Game Used Bat Graded GU7
He played his entire career with the NY Giants. He threw with his right hand and batted with his left. Mel Ott, at 5'9" and 170 lbs, was the first National League player to exceed 500 home runs. This game-used bat measures 35" long and weighs 34.3 oz. This "Powerized" Louisville Slugger is engraved with "Genuine, Melvin Ott, Reg. U.S. Pat. Off" and was used between 1946 and 1949. The professional model bat shows evidence of outstanding use with a handle crack that appears to have been repaired with three small nails. There is slight checking, or grain swelling, visible on the back barrel. Many ball marks are visible on the right, left, and back barrel. The handle has been scored to enhance the grip. "1946 Philadelphia Athletics" has been carved into the barrel, and the bat was team-signed by the '46 Athletics, but the signatures have been removed.
