"Better safe than sorry" seemed to be the motto of the long-cursed Brooklyn Dodgers franchise, which tempted fate both in 1946 and 1951 by manufacturing press pins for anticipated World Series appearances that never materialized. Here are those collector's items, both of which are NRMT with threaded posts on the back, and both were manufactured by Dieges and Clust. The Cardinals edged the Dodgers by two games for the 1946 pennant, while the crosstown Giants broke the Brooklyn faithful's hearts with their playoff victory, spearheaded by Bobby Thomson's walk-off, clinching homer.
