1946 Babe Ruth "Signing Autographs" Photo (PSA Type I)

1946 Babe Ruth "Signing Autographs" Photo (PSA Type I)

Babe Ruth could always draw a crowd, on or off the baseball field. Here is the great Bambino, in a box seat at Yankee Stadium in 1946, and eleven years after his retirement as a player in the 1935 season, still drawing a crowd. Offered is this Type I Original News Service photo from International News Photos, measuring 6.5x8.5". The Babe was always fond of kids, and his affection was returned by the youngsters. Ruth is regarded by many as the best baseball player in history. Who else could have slugged more home runs than whole American League teams in the 1930s, set the long-held single-season homer record of 61, hold the career home run record of 714 until Hank Aaron broke it in 1974, and won both a batting title and an earned run average crown, plus going 94-46 as a pitcher? Ruth batted and threw left-handed, but he wrote right-handed, and his penmanship was meticulous. The back of the photo shows an International News Photo stamp. The photo exhibits some slight foxing and darkening, caused by the passage of over 75 years, but the item is in overall excellent condition. It comes with a PSA LOA.
