1946 Bob Feller's All Stars (vs.Satchel Paige All Stars) Barnstorming Program - Signed by Feller

1946 Bob Feller's All Stars (vs.Satchel Paige All Stars) Barnstorming Program - Signed by Feller

Program issued for a barnstorming exhibition game between Bob Feller's All-Stars and Satchel Paige's All-Stars in 1946. While the program itself is scarce, the offered piece has been signed by Feller on the cover, and is the first such signed example we have seen. Feller has beautifully inscribed the cover in blue Sharpie, "Bob Feller/H.O.F. 62," with the signature grading a perfect 10/10. The sixteen-page program, which is not scored, features photos and biographies of both Feller and Paige, as well as smaller portrait images and shorter biographies of each team's members. Included on Feller's roster are Bob Lemon, Phil Rizzuto, Stan Musial, Charlie Keller, Jim Hegan, and Ken Keltner. Paige's star-studded lineup includes Monte Irvin, Williard Brown, Hilton Smith, Buck O'Neil, Dan Bankhead, and Sam Jethroe. This was one of the most celebrated interracial baseball tours of the era, taking place just one year prior to Jackie Robinson's historic 1947 debut with the Dodgers. Many consider this tour as having been influential in helping to break down the color barrier, as it showcased the talent of the top Negro League players to a wider audience. The program (8.5x11") remains in spectacular Excellent to Mint condition and is easily one of the finest examples we have handled.
