1946 Glenn Davis & Doc Blanchard Signed Life Magazine Cover

Historic Life Magazine photo of back-to-back Heisman Trophy winners from West Point (1945,1946). Felix "Doc" Blanchard (#35) was the first non-senior to win when the junior fullback led Army to an undefeated season in 1945 as the cadets won the National Championship. This September 15, 1946 cover presages the Heisman award going to halfback Glenn Davis (#41) after the season in which Army was again undefeated, extending their three year undefeated record to 27-0-1, with their only tie with undefeated Notre Dame on November 9th. In 1946 some ranking/polls considered Army the National Champions, while the AP poll picked Notre Dame and the Williamson Poll chose the Georgia Bulldogs. With World War II over in 1946, the United States Military Academy's dominance was about to fade, so this photo captures the last glory of an era. Framed 17x21".
