1947 Coca-Cola Famous Sports Legends Cardboard Advertising Sign Complete Set of 10 w/Original Mailing Envelope
This is the first set of its kind that we have seen with original envelope. Individuals are seen, sets we have only seen two offered since the 1970s, but this is the first with the original envelope, technically titling them "Sports Hangers." Marvelous original illustration art on each of these 15x13" heavy cardboard advertising sign "hangers" was meant to be displayed at your local Coca-Cola dispensary; each has a string on the back for hanging. Sports legends include Bobby Jones (golf), Ty Cobb (baseball), Gene Tunney (boxing), Red Grange (football), Helene Madison (swimming), Don Budge (tennis), Willie Hoppe (billiards), Ned Day (bowling), Colonial Lady M (hunting), and Man 'O War (racing). Signs are overall EX-MT or better. Envelope has damage. One of the earliest examples of early sports retrospective or "nostalgia" advertising.
