1948 Boston Braves Leather Wallet and Locker Roon Key Chain

1948 Boston Braves Leather Wallet and Locker Roon Key Chain

Presented is a Boston Braves wallet and a Boston Braves key chain. The wallet, measuring 4x5.25", serves as a note pad holder as well. On the wallet is an image of a Native-American in headdress and the words" World Series 1948". The key chain belonged to player Red Barrett and has his name on the back. These were given to players for their locker room and luggage keys. The key chain measures 4.3", not including the clip at the end. Red Barrett had an up-and-down regular season with the Braves, going 7-8 as a starter and reliever - with a 3.65 ERA. He had an outstanding 1948 World Series, but Boston lost the Series to the Cleveland Indians. Barrett pitched in two of the Series games in relief, and in 3.2 innings allowed only one hit, no walks and had a 0.00 ERA. After years of a stable 16 MLB franchises, the Boston Braves moved to Milwaukee before the 1953 season, beginning a wave of franchise shifts in the 1950s that changed the face of the baseball map. These items serve as remembrances of the days when hosting both an American and a National league team was common for cities, and the Braves, now in Atlanta, were back in Boston.
