1948 Boston Braves World Series Ring
A real stunner from the 1948 Boston Braves pennant winners who lost to the Cleveland Indians in the World Series. A gorgeous 10 karat gold ring with oval shaped ruby on top with a large diamond in the center, surrounded by raised text: “National League Baseball Club of Boston – League Champions”. Right shank is “1948” with Indian below. Left shank is home plate, mitt & bats design with “1948” below. This golden beauty belonged to Bob Keely, coach for the Boston Braves (1946-58). Keely had just one Major League at-bat as a 35-year-old, third string catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, but moved to Boston in 1945 to coach the Braves, following his close friend, Billy Southworth. Beautifully engraved in script inside is “Bob Keely”.
