1948 Joe Louis Original Large-Format LIFE Magazine Photograph (PSA Type I)

Original large-format Type I photograph of Joe Louis, taken by noted photographer Joe Scherschel, featured in the November 15, 1948, issue of LIFE magazine. Louis is pictured holding a six-pack of "Punch," his marketed brand of soft drink, as he poses with a customer next to a company delivery truck. The credit stamps of Joe Scherschel and "Time Inc." appear on the reverse, along with a handwritten pencil caption that reads "Joe Louis punch brings the champion income from royalties + stock holdings. It is a carbonated soft drink with grape flavor, selling for 5¢ a bottle." Both the domestic and international publication dates for this photo in LIFE are also listed on the reverse. The photo (10.5x13.5") displays a few light creases and is in Very Good condition. Full LOA from PSA certifying the photo as Type I Authentic.
