1948 Joe Louis vs. Jersey Joe Walcott Pennant

1948 Joe Louis vs. Jersey Joe Walcott Pennant

On June 25, 1948, World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis defended his title against Jersey Joe Walcott at Yankee Stadium in New York. These two had fought six months earlier, and although Louis had retained his title by 15-round decision, most observers, including Louis, thought Walcott had won. This was the rematch and this time Louis took care of all doubts, stopping Walcott in 11 rounds. Presented here is an original souvenir pennant for this fight. The brown felt with gold and blue trim pennant has illustrations of boxers. There are corner tack holes with a decent sized hole at the tip. Still, this pennant presents very well with bold color and print and clear images. It is 29 inches long with the original tassels.
