1948 New York Yankees Signed Baseball
The Yankees weren’t bad, just not good enough in ‘48, winning 94 games but still finishing 3rd. But it was just a temporary lull, as the next year they’d start a streak of 5 straight (and 6 out of 7) world championships. Unique ball from the “out” year carries 24 signatures, headed up by Joe DiMaggio big and bold as Marilyn Monroe’s bustline on the SS, easily the best sign on the ball that also includes fellow HOFers Yogi (as “Larry”) Berra & Phil Rizzuto as well as Crosetti, Henrich, Lopat, Brown, Reynolds, Page, Raschi, Keller, Mapes, Byrnes, Stirnweiss, McQuinn, Lollar, Embree, Houk, etc. Signatures in dark blue ink average 6-7/10 with Joe D an 8. OAL (Harridge) is VG-EX with a light tan toning and a few unobtrusive scuff marks.
