1949 Jackie Robinson Signed Government Postcard - MVP Season (JSA)
1949 government postcard inscribed and signed by Jackie Robinson. In his short note, Robinson replies to a Mr. Paul Anydo: "Thanks for your nice letter. I certainly appreciated your feelings. Sincerely, Jackie Robinson." Both the signature and text have been scripted in black fountain pen and grade 8/10 overall. The postmark on the front appears to be stamped "Brooklyn Apr 25 1949." Robinson and the Dodgers had a home game that day against the Boston Braves, with Robinson going 0-3 in the club's 3-0 loss. Despite his lack of production in that game, Robinson enjoyed the finest season of his career in 1949, finishing with 16 home runs, 124 RBI, and league-leading totals in both batting average (.342) and stolen bases (37). Those numbers not only helped lead the Dodgers to the 1949 National League championship, but also earned Robinson the National League MVP Award at season's end. The postcard (5.5x3.25") displays two sets of staple holes and a few light creases. In Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from JSA.
