1949 James Dean High School Yearbook (ex-Seth Poppel Yearbook Library)

1949 James Dean High School Yearbook (ex-Seth Poppel Yearbook Library)

James Dean Senior Yearbook from 1949 at Fairmount High School, Fairmount, IN. With only 49 in the graduating class this book is not easy to find in this kind of collectible condition and is an especially great piece of James Dean memorabilia because it exhibits the breadth of his talents. The cover and binding are Excellent with minor wear at the expected edge locations. The inside is basically Excellent with the exception that the edges of the pages show heavy "finger" wear from having been leafed through many times, two pages must have been stuck at the very edge as they exhibit some matching roughness where they were separated and there are some wear marks on various pages, none of which detract in any way from any of his photos. There is very little writing, no cutouts, no torn or missing pages and no other evidence of any moisture damage to the pages. All of the many, many great James Dean photos are Excellent, as are the pages they are on. He appears with the usual posed individual head photo as a senior (along with his activity list), a super, large individual photo honoring him for having won the Indiana State National Forensic League contest. Aside from showing up in group shots (where he is clearly recognizable, and wearing glasses most of the time) of the Thespians, Debate Club, Senior Play Cast and two candids, he also appears as Frankenstein with an individual head shot and a wonderful individual basketball photo. It is noted that he was rated as one of the most outstanding guards in the County. He also shows up on the baseball team, the track team and the "F" Club. This book presents James Dean in three sports, the band, drama, debate, and declamation.
