1950 Callahan Baseball Hall of Fame High Grade Complete Set in Box
This classic series was sold at ball parks and at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown starting in 1950 and saw updates as new members were elected through 1956. The cards feature expert level drawings by famed artist Mario DeMarco. The name comes from the publisher, B.E. Callahan of Chicago, who is also responsible for "Who's Who in Baseball." The cards measure 1-3/4" x 2-1/2". In addition to this high-grade complete set of the original 63 subjects, is an original card board box (presents EX with a couple rips in one end panel) which once housed these very cards. It is not easy to find these fragile, sixty nine year-old cards in near mint or better condition. This offering is a great start to gathering a genuine vintage set that contains many of the greatest players in baseball history. Includes: Anson (NM), Cobb (NM), Foxx (NM), Gehrig (EX/MT), Johnson (NM), Mack (NM/MT), Mathewson (EX/MT), Ruth (EX/MT), Wagner (EX/MT), Young (NM). Grades 53% NM to NM/MT, 38% EX to EX/MT and 9% VG to VG/EX.
