1950 Topps Freedom’s War Complete Set (203) plus 142 Gray Back variations with all PSA Graded Die Cut TANK cards

1950 Topps Freedom’s War Complete Set (203) plus 142 Gray Back variations with all PSA Graded Die Cut TANK cards

Offered is one of the first sets ever issued by the Topps Company, recognizing the United States and Allies involvement in the Korean War. This “set” consists of 203 cards, but there are several subsets involved, and are so designated on the reverse. For card #1-96 and 104-203, they were issued with tan or gray backs, perforated edges or smooth edges, and then some earlier cards (1-96) come with or without captions on the obverse. In addition, to make matters even more interesting, card numbers 97-103 (another subset) depict tanks and come solid or with die-cuts, of which the die-cuts are much scarcer and much more highly desirable. All tank cards were issued with tan backs. This collection is 345 cards in total, including a complete set of 203 of which 200 are white backs, with three (#’s 7, 93 & 165) in gray back variety, plus an additional 142 cards with the gray back variation. Besides the die-cut tank subset, other popular cards are those of Generals Patton, MacArthur and Eisenhower. We have submitted 23 cards to PSA for grading, including all seven (7) of the tank die-cuts, all but one of which has received the highest PSA grade extant. These tank card die cuts are so rare, these 7 cards represent 29% of the entire die cuts ever graded by PSA. THIS INCLUDES THE ONLY KNOWN PSA MINT 9 die-cut tank card and two PSA NM-MT 8 die-cut tanks cards. Speaking with advanced non-sport collectors, they were amazed by the grades on these tank cards, with the usual response of "these are so difficult to locate in general, but are really tough in high grade." And while these die cut cards are almost all the highest grade recorded by PSA, the PSA 3 and 4's have much better eye appeal than their assigned grades.

Includes: Graded cards (all tan backs unless noted) - PSA MINT 9: 1 card, #97 M-7 Howitzer Motor Carriage - Die Cut.
