1950s-60s Cincinnati Reds Travel Trunk

1950s-60s Cincinnati Reds Travel Trunk

This rugged Cincinnati Reds travel trunk was used by the team during the 1950s and '60s for transporting equipment and players' possessions as they crisscrossed the country. There is a "CReds" logo painted on both sides, with several scratches and scrapes on each. The trunk was made by the Preismeyer Brothers of St. Louis, whose name appears on a metal tag on top, and it shows plenty of use. The era during which it was used was a pretty barren one for the club, but they did capture the NL pennant in 1961 before falling to the New York Yankees in the World Series. The Reds farm system of the 1960s did however produce the foundation for the Big Red Machine of the 1970s that would take the baseball world by storm.
