1950s Brooklyn Dodger Bum Original Artwork by Willard Mullin from The Sporting News (5)
Group of 5 illustrations relating to the Brooklyn Dodgers was created by renowned sports cartoonist, Willard Mullin. Each one features his famous character, the Brooklyn Bum, in different situations providing entertaining editorial commentary on those beloved Dodgers. In "Duty Calls, 'You Hoo'" Mullin takes a jab at off season scouting and acquisitions, the Dodger bullpen comes under fire in "Now Pitching For Brooklyn", and "In The Heart's Of Their Countrymen" comically illustrates the lack of respect bestowed upon the Champs even after toppling the Yanks. In the fourth piece, the Dodgers fourteen game losing streak is the subject of "The Blue Streak" and the lone untitled work features the hapless Brooklyn Bum swinging a roasted chicken at his fireside mates. Each original drawing, publsihed in The Sporting News, are complete with artist’s notes and titles handwritten on each. Each one signed by Mullin. Overall EX.
