1950s Roosevelt Brown NY Giants Shaving Cream Store Display
Long before the Jets joined the Giants on the New York football landscape, the Super Jet brand of shaving cream was marketed expressly to African-Americans based on news articles of the day. Using offensive tackle Roosevelt Brown as its pitch man, this 6.5x9.5" ad urges consumers to "Cash in on the GIANT savings." The ultimate receptacle was to hold Astra Jet and shave cream. The standee features a marvelous image of this New York Giants titan, with some evidence of creasing. Sold only in select neighborhoods, hence the rarity as we have not seen another. From the collection of Gus LeDonne, the legendary football and sports collector who passed away too soon in 2013. A top of the line buyer, Gus bought the best of the best in the early days of our hobby.
