1951 Brooklyn Dodgers Advertising Schedule Poster
1951 was an especially painful season for the Brooklyn Dodgers faithful, who saw their favorite team lead the National League for the majority of the season before the crosstown rival New York Giants caught them and broke their collective heart with Bobby Thomson's "Shot Heard 'Round the World" in the pennant playoff. Prior to that cruel conclusion to the campaign, the team released this paper poster promoting :"Baseball's Newest Murderer's Row." The team photograph graces the top of the sheet, with each player identified below. The bottom half implores fans to "See them in action at Ebbets Field" with detailed directions from various city locations, as well as a home schedule, game times and ticket information. There is some creases and chipping on the edges, but otherwise is in VG-EX condition. A rare promotional item, to be sure. Ex-Sal Larocca Collection.
