1951 Joe DiMaggio and Casey Stengel Photograph - Let Them Eat Cake! (PSA Type I)
Original Type I photograph capturing Joe DiMaggio, Casey Stengel, and Ed Lopat, sharing a piece of birthday cake in the locker room following a game against the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium on July 30, 1951. As noted by the original paper news caption (dated 7/31/51) affixed to the reverse, the cake was served in honor of Casey Stengel's birthday. All three were in good spirits at the time of this photo because DiMaggio's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave New York a 5-4 victory, with Lopat going the distance for the win. An Acme credit stamp also appears on the reverse. The photo (7x5") displays a tiny chip in the lower right corner, as well as a few small border creases. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Encapsulated as Type I Authentic by PSA.
