1951 Mickey Mantle Rookie Switch Hitter Photograph
So much is packed into this vintage 1951 Type I shot from the rookie season of the great Mickey Mantle. The 7x9" offers a split shot with The Mick following through on a swing from each side of the plate, with Yankee Stadium facade, stands, and World Champs banner in the background. The reverse contains an affixed clip of the photo as it appeared in an unnamed newspaper, which obscures the credit and date stamps. However, the date of April 22, 1951, is stamped on each side of the clipping. There is a crease at the bottom and some minor folding at the edges, but it does not diminish from the character of the terrific image.
