1951 Rogers Hornsby Seattle Rainiers Handwritten Lineup Cards

1951 Rogers Hornsby Seattle Rainiers Handwritten Lineup Cards

An unusual memento of a Hall of Famer, these 3x5" lineup cards were handwritten by Rogers Hornsby as manager of the Seattle Rainiers during the 1951 season. Measuring 3x5", the batting orders are written in pencil and the backs are dated "9-18-51" and "9-19-51." There is some yellowing but no visible creases or tears in the cards, which are in EX condition. After his storied playing career, Hornsby piloted five Major League teams before hitting the minors. One year after leading the Rainiers to the Pacific Coast League Pennant, The Rajah was rehired to lead the St. Louis Browns - his first job in the majors in 16 years.
